From Briefcase to Backpacks: A Masculine Approach to Bag Selection

Here’s a guide to incorporating bags into your life as a man while still maintaining a masculine flair. From boardroom-ready briefcases to laid-back, elevated backpacks, there’s a bag for almost every man.

The man purse is on the rise and here to stay. Some may want to avoid the trend altogether and stick to filling their pockets to the brim. And for those who want to embrace the trend and free up some space in their pants, here’s a guide to incorporating bags into your life as a man while still maintaining a masculine flair. From boardroom-ready briefcases to laid-back, elevated backpacks, there’s a bag for almost every man.

The Classic Briefcase

For the man who means business, the classic briefcase is an enduring symbol of professionalism. Opt for a timeless leather design in shades of brown or black for a sophisticated touch. For those who prefer a more rugged and sporty look, there are plenty of briefcase options that aren’t in your traditinal black and brown leather. Plenty of brands make canvas options with modern structures that feel more relaxed and laid bag instead of stiff like the classic briefcase styles we know well. A quality briefcase complements any tailored suit seamlessly and exudes confidence in the corporate realm. Look for subtle detailing and minimalistic hardware to maintain an understated elegance.

The Messenger Bag

Urban life demands versatility and style, making messenger bags a go-to choice for the contemporary man. A plus is that most briefcases made today have a messenger strap option for easeful carrying. These bags effortlessly blend form and function, allowing you to hold your essentials effortlessly while maintaining an edgy, street-smart look. Choose durable materials like canvas or leather in neutral tones to achieve a balance between rugged and refined, while still complementing your daily attire.

The Elevated Backpack

It’s time to throw out your well-loved sport backpacks from college and invest in a high-quality stylish one. For the man who isn’t fully ready to commit to the bag trend but feels it’s time to elevate an accessory in his life, an elevated backpack is the route to go. Once relegated to schoolyards, backpacks have undergone a stylish revolution and are now an integral part of a man's wardrobe. Choose a sleek, black leather backpack for a polished look or a brown one for a more casual, rugged vibe. Modern backpacks are designed with organizational compartments, making them perfect for the man on the go who values both style and functionality.

The Crossbody

For the man who values convenience without compromising style and who doesn’t mind taking a bolder style risk, the crossbody bag is an excellent choice. This hands-free option has gained popularity for its practicality and modern aesthetic. Opt for a compact, leather crossbody bag that rests comfortably across your chest, adding a touch of edge to your look. Or itegrate a canvas texture into your wardrobe for a laid back, streetwear aesthetic. Choose neutral tones or bold hues, depending on your personal style, and let this accessory elevate your casual or semi-casual outfits.

Bags as a man doesn’t have to be a scary and foreign idea. There’s a way for every man to participate in the trend while still maintaining his masculinity and staying within his style profile. As men's fashion continues to evolve, so does the range of bag options available. Whether you're looking for a bag as a corporate professional or one for your everyday life, there's a bag that perfectly complements your style. Embrace the versatility and functionality that these bags offer, and make a statement with your accessory choices. After all, a well-chosen bag is more than just a practical necessity—it's a reflection of your personality and a crucial component of your overall style.

The Right Sundress For You Based On Your Body Type

Sundress season means the sun is out, the toes are out, and your most flirty, easy breezy dresses are out to play. This article will help you determine which sundress is right for you based on your body type.

Sundress season means the sun is out, the toes are out, and your most flirty, easy breezy dresses are out to play. The goal during the warmer months is to stay cool, but something awful happens in that transitional period from our stylish layered looks to the simple, single-layered outfits we put together. Some of us seem to struggle with looking fashionable and not frumpy in our warm-weather attire. And there could be many reasons why your sundresses aren’t working for you and instead appear to be working against you. One of them could be the sundresses you’re choosing don’t flatter your body type. If you don’t know your body type — Pear, Inverted Triangle, Rectangle, Apple, and Hourglass — then I suggest you refer back to our previous articles about the different body types and the characteristics associated with each one.

Apple

The apple or round body type typically means the majority of your width is held in your center. The stomach, and sometimes bust, steal the show in your outfits, making it the focal point of your body. In order to balance that out, we want to introduce sundresses that create a waist. The dress should have a built-in structure to it naturally. Whether that be rouching in the center, a tie waist, a strong A-line, or a fitted bodice with a peplum or flare moment like in the first picture below, a sundress that creates a strongly defined waist is going to suit you best. Another thing to consider is necklines. Your figure will truly shine the most with sweetheart, v-neck, and one-shoulder necklines.

Rectangle

The rectangle body type is very similar to the apple in the case that it also does not have a very defined waist. Instead of the midsection protruding outward and being the widest section of the body, this shape has no widest point. The hips, waist, and shoulders are about the same width all the way across. So, the goal again is to find sundresses that create and accentuate the waist. Wrap dresses, belts, ties, gathering, and rouching are going to be your best friends. Avoid harsh necklines that square necks, especially ones with spaghetti straps. Those won’t do you any favors even if the dress has some decent structure built in.

Pear

Characterized by being bottom-heavy or wider around the hip and thigh area, the pear will find balance for their body in a sundress that brings attention to the top of the body. An ultra-feminine puff sleeve is a sweet way of accomplishing this goal. An asymmetrical shoulder moment or an off-the-shoulder style are also great contenders. Try to avoid too much volume on the bottom as that will only keep your body out of balance. Fitted skirt styles and straight-down A-lines are things you’ll want to lean into. Avoid slits and asymmetrical hemlines.

Inverted Triangle

The exact opposite of the pear is the inverted triangle girlies. V-necks are going to be your life savior for a sundress or any dress for that matter. You want to soften the bust and shoulders as that is the area of your body that is widest. To create a balanced frame, grab a dress with an interesting hemline or one with lots of volume. A strong A-line sundress with a V-neck will be an easy go-to for you. Avoid fuss and volume on the top as that will only bring the eye back up to the area that is already the widest.

Hourglass

The hourglass, or what is considered the balanced body type, is symmetrical and even. The shoulders and hips are equal in measurement and the waist is snatched. And when I say snatched, I mean snatched. Technically, because this body type is balanced, you can wear almost anything. But the sundress that will make this body type shine the most is a fitted one. Think stretch and figure hugging. Many of your best sundress styles are not going to be what you traditionally think of sundresses. I would almost completely avoid linen dresses for the summer, especially around the hips. Those dress styles are usually made with an oversized vibe, and your body appreciates a silhouette that hugs the curves.

Embracing sundress season involves not just enjoying the sunshine but also choosing styles that complement your unique body shape. Whether you identify as an Apple, Rectangle, Pear, Inverted Triangle, or Hourglass, the key lies in understanding how to create balance for your body. From defining the waist for Apples and Rectangles to drawing attention upward for Pears and softening the upper body for Inverted Triangles, each body type can effortlessly shine in the right sundress. Even the hourglass can find a way to highlight their frame with unconventional summer dresses. With these tips in mind, you're sure to step out in style, radiating confidence and charm throughout the sunny season.

Blossom Your Style: A Guide to Choosing the Right Florals for Your Unique Style

In the ever-evolving realm of fashion, floral patterns have often carried a misunderstood stigma, leading many to shy away from incorporating them into their personal style. Some may associate florals with a clichéd or overly feminine aesthetic, overlooking the endless possibilities these patterns offer for self-expression. However, as a personal stylist, I'm here to dispel the idea that floral patterns can only work for one type of style. Instead, I want to help you reimagine and embrace florals in a way that aligns with your unique style. By understanding your individual fashion persona, we can discover the perfect floral patterns and combinations that not only challenge preconceived notions but also empower you to blossom with confidence and authenticity. Let's dismantle the stereotypes and unlock the potential of florals as a versatile and exciting element in your wardrobe.

Understanding Your Style Adjectives:

Before diving into the world of florals, it's crucial to identify your style adjectives. There are many different words you can use to describe your style and yours may not align perfectly with the ones listed below. That’s okay. This is to have you start thinking about which floral patterns might suit you. Here are a few examples that you can start with.

Classic and Elegant

For the timeless and sophisticated classic style, florals can be incorporated seamlessly into your wardrobe for a touch of romantic allure. Florals are usually associated with this style, especially when leaning toward traditional blooms like roses or peonies. A tailored floral dress with a cinched waist exudes femininity and elegance. Consider garments with florals that are softer and have a romantic touch to them. Accessories such as dainty jewelry, a timeless handbag, or a pair of pumps or simple sandals will add a polished finish to your classic floral ensemble. This approach allows you to maintain the refinement of your style while introducing a fresh and charming floral twist.

Bohemian and Free-Spirited

For the free-spirited bohemian, embracing florals is an opportunity to showcase your love for nature and freedom. Opt for larger floral patterns with vivid colors and bold, intrictae patterns that mimic the beauty of wildflowers. Flowing maxi dresses adorned with bold flower prints create a whimsical and carefree look. Seek out natural fabrics like cotton, linen, or even crochet for a laid-back, organic feel. Layering with rustic, statement jewelry and strappy sandals will enhance the boho aesthetic, allowing you to express your individuality through a harmonious blend of vibrant florals and bohemian charm.

Modern and Eclectic

In the realm of modern and eclectic style, florals can serve as a captivating and versatile element to elevate one's style. Embracing florals doesn't necessarily mean adhering to a conventional or dated aesthetic; rather, it's about infusing these botanical patterns with a contemporary twist. For a bold and avant-garde look, consider opting for oversized floral prints in unexpected color combinations. Mix and match contrasting patterns to create a dynamic visual impact, showcasing your fearless approach to fashion. Experiment with unconventional silhouettes, such as asymmetrical hemlines or exaggerated sleeves, to add an extra layer of eccentricity. Accessorizing with statement pieces like chunky jewelry or edgy footwear can further amplify the modern edge of a floral ensemble. Ultimately, the key lies in embracing individuality and pushing the boundaries, transforming florals from a traditional motif into a powerful tool for expressing a distinctive and avant-garde style persona.

Edgy and Chic

For those with an edgy style, the key is to balance the softness of florals with the boldness of your overall aesthetic. Seek out florals with darker backgrounds or unconventional color combinations to add a touch of rebellion to the feminine patterns. Consider incorporating a leather jacket, skirt, or pants into your outfit. Even a floral-printed biker jacket paired with jeans can effortlessly blend the rebellious spirit with a touch of floral elegance. Don't shy away from mixing textures beyond leather as well; experiment with studs or metallic accessories to amplify the edgy vibe while embracing the floral trend in a way that resonates with your distinctive style. Remember, it's all about finding that perfect harmony between the soft and the rugged to showcase your edgy chic persona.

There is a floral moment for almost anyone. From the carefree bohemian spirit, who effortlessly weaves florals into flowing fabrics and intricate patterns, to the timeless classic who embraces romantic elegance with refined silhouettes — the possibilities are endless. For the modern minimalist, florals take on a sleek and sophisticated guise, adorning clean lines and subtle designs. Even the edgy chic woman can find a way to marry rebellion with floral delicacy, creating a fusion that resonates with her individuality. Don’t count florals out just yet. You might be surprised how florals can be incorporated into your unique style persona. So, whatever your style adjectives are, try and see if you can find a floral pattern that suits an aspect of your springtime wardrobe.

Unveiling Your Best Self: The Three Keys to Elevating Your Style

In this article, we delve into the three keys that will unlock the door to a more refined and elevated version of yourself: clothes, hair, and skin/makeup.

In the intricate tapestry of personal expression, fashion is a powerful medium to convey one's identity and creativity. Elevating your style is an empowering journey that goes beyond the mere selection of clothes. To truly stand out and bump yourself up, consider the holistic approach of enhancing not just your wardrobe but also your hair and skin/makeup. In this article, we'll delve into the three keys that will unlock the door to a more refined and elevated version of yourself: clothes, hair, and skin/makeup.

Style: Where your personality shines

Fashion is a language, and your style is the story you tell the world. Elevating your look is more than choosing clothes; it's about understanding your best colors, body shape, and personal style adjectives. Let's explore the elements to unlock your highest style potential.

The first step is to determine your undertones—warm or cool—and the second step is to determine if your skin tone favors more vibrant or muted colors. You then build a wardrobe around those colors that enhance your beauty. Another aspect of improving your style is buying clothes that flatter your body shape. Identify whether you're an hourglass, pear, apple, rectangle, or inverted triangle. Invest in tailoring for a polished look and choose styles that highlight your favorite features. Lastly, define your style with adjectives—classic, edgy, bohemian, minimalist. Reflect on your preferences and curate a signature look that aligns with your unique fashion identity.

Find Your Signature Hairstyles

Your day-to-day hairstyle can have a drastic impact on how you look and feel about yourself. A hairstyle that suits you will automatically make you look more lively and put together. A hairstyle that doesn’t suit you will do the exact opposite. You’ll want to find your top three best hairstyles and interchange between them.

There are a few things to consider when choosing these hairstyles. You must learn which colors suit you best. Knowing your color season can help determine which colors you should rock. The wrong color can make you look tired and washed out, making you feel like you need to wear makeup. The wrong haircut can also make your face appear unbalanced. Determining the correct volume and length will make your face appear more symmetrical. Play around with low, mid, and high volume styles along with short, medium, and long legnths. Or you can schedule a consultation with an image consultant who can point you in the right direction so you can save time and money.

Skin/Makeup: The Radiant Glow

The main thing people focus on when interacting with you is your face. Your skin is a canvas, and makeup is the artistry that enhances your features. A healthy, radiant complexion, coupled with strategic makeup application, can elevate your style and boost your confidence.

Skincare has to be a priority. A consistent skincare routine to achieve a natural, radiant glow can make all the difference in not just your appearance, but in your confidence as well. Take the time to notice what your skin responds positively to. And if you’re struggling, speak with a dermatologist to build a skincare routine perfect for you.

If makeup is your vibe, then continue with the same ideas mentioned before – only use things that like you back. Again knowing your best colors can help you determine which lipstick, blush, and eyeshadow shades you should gravitate toward. Hone in on your everyday beat and perfect it whenever you need to pull it out.

Elevating your style involves a harmonious blend of clothes, hair, and skin/makeup. By curating a thoughtful wardrobe, picking a hairstyle that likes you back, and prioritizing skincare and strategic makeup application, you'll unlock the keys to a more refined and confident version of yourself. You don’t need to spend money on lashes, nails, waxing, or much else because those things won’t bump you up and move the needle as much as the three keys. And remember, this is about picking things that like you back but that you also like as well. The most impactful style is the one that authentically reflects who you are.

A Guide to Mastering Scarf Fashion

In this guide, we'll explore various ways to wear a scarf to enhance your personal style and add some an extra layer of pizzazz to your outfits.

A scarf is a versatile accessory that can effortlessly elevate your style and add a touch of sophistication to any outfit. Whether you're dressing up for a special occasion or aiming for a casual yet polished look, incorporating a scarf can make a significant difference. In this guide, we'll explore various ways to wear a scarf to enhance your personal style and add some an extra layer of pizzazz to your outfits.

The Classic Drape:

The most straightforward way to wear a scarf is to drape it around your neck, allowing the ends to hang loosely. This classic style complements a wide range of outfits, from casual to business casual. Adding a knot at the ends of your silk scarfs is an easy way to add dimension to your outfit. If you’re worried about your lighter scarves blowing away, then tuck them in your outerwear as a peekaboo accent piece to your ensemble. Experiment with different fabrics, colors that suit you, and patterns to find the perfect match for your outfit.

The Infinity Loop:

For an effortlessly chic look, try the infinity loop. Simply loop the scarf around your neck twice, creating a stylish and snug fit. This works exceptionally well with chunky knit scarves for a cozy, winter-ready vibe. We are established in Florida, so there are about two days out of the year when this is feasible. But if you’re planning on taking any trips, consider packing this in your wardrobe. Another advantage of the infinity loop is that it makes a great balaclava to keep your face protected from the icy winds in winter.

The Knot:

Add a touch of Parisian flair to your outfit with the French knot. Fold the scarf in half, drape it around your neck, and pull the loose ends through the loop. Experiment with how tight you pull the knot and how many times you tie it around your neck. You can even push the end pieces to the back to add interest to your outfit as you walk away. This knot works wonders with silk scarves, instantly infusing an air of sophistication into your look. Again, focus on choosing colors that suit your skin tone here. We don’t want you to look washed out by wearing a color that doesn’t complement you.

The Belted:

Elevate your outerwear by using a scarf as a makeshift shawl or belt. Simply drape the scarf over your shoulders and cinch your waist with a stylish belt or tie the scarf around your waist to cinch you in. This adds a touch of elegance to your ensemble, turning a basic outfit into a fashion statement.

The Headscarf Statement:

Finally, don't limit scarves to your neck – use them as headscarves or hair accessories for a playful and bohemian look. There are a variety of ways to wear a headscarf on your head that aren’t depicted here. You can tie it into a braid, wear it as a babushka like a movie star from the 50s, and more. Whether you're channeling vintage vibes, protecting your hair from the wind, or wanting to add a playful element to your ensemble, a well-tied headscarf adds a pop of personality to your style.

Mastering the art of scarf styling opens up a world of possibilities for expressing your personal style. Whether you prefer a classic and sophisticated look, want to experiment with bohemian chic, or simply stay warm, there's a scarf style for every occasion. Embrace the versatility of this timeless accessory and elevate your fashion game with these creative and stylish scarf-wearing techniques.

Elevating Your Style: A Personal Stylist's Guide for Men

Whether you're going on dates, rebranding your business, or simply doing your day-to-day things, your personal style has an impact. As personal stylists, we’re here to guide you through the process of elevating your style to reflect the best version of yourself. Men, this one’s for you.

In a world where first impressions are formed within seconds, your personal style as a man plays a pivotal role in how you are perceived. Whether you're going on dates, rebranding your business, or simply doing your day-to-day things , presenting yourself with confidence can have a significant impact. And your appearance is big part of feeling confident. As personal stylists, we’re here to guide you through the process of elevating your style to reflect the best version of yourself. Men, this one’s for you.

Know best Colors and personal style

Before you embark on your style transformation journey, there are two key things you need to establish. What colors suit your skin tone and what words describe your personal style. Knowing your best colors can have a drastic affect on your outfit. Just a simple t-shirt in a color that doesn’t suit you can make you look older and tired. But a color that complements you can make you appear more lively and attractive. If you don’t know your best colors, hire a professional like a personal stylist to help you answer that question.

When working with clients, we always discuss the adjectives you want your new style to embody. Do you want to look strong and expensive? Or do you want your style to communicate rugged and classic. Knowing your preferences will serve as the foundation for your upgraded style because it gives you more direction of what pieces you should be leaning into when you go shopping.

The power of clothes

When curating your wardrobe, it's crucial to reflect your identity while ensuring a proper fit. This is particularly vital for men due to fewer options available. Owning a well-tailored suit is essential, as an ill-fitting suit can ruin the entire aesthetic. Pant length, especially in relation to your shoes, also matters; shorter or taller men might require tailored adjustments. Maintaining a versatile closet involves starting with basics like plain t-shirts, various button-downs, jeans in different washes, and pants of diverse colors. Matching belts to your shoe options is equally important.

Elevating your style involves dressing appropriately for different occasions. A black-tie affair demands a tuxedo, whereas a casual outing warrants well-fitted jeans or chinos paired with a stylish polo or dress shirt. Adapting to dress codes showcases your awareness and respect for the event and those present. Also, this attention to detail does not go unnoticed in the dating scene.

Embrace Accessories

Accessories are the punctuation marks of an outfit. They can take a basic look from ordinary to extraordinary. Invest in a few high-quality accessories that can complement a variety of outfits. A sleek watch, a stylish belt, and tasteful cufflinks are timeless options that add sophistication to your ensemble without overpowering it. If you want to take it a step further, adding hats that suit your face shape is a major game changer.

Grooming

The significance of haircuts, beard care, and grooming for men cannot be overstated. These elements form the foundation of a man’s overall appearance, reflecting not only personal style but also self-care and attention to detail. You’ll want to choose a haircut that suits your face shape and aligns with your style identity be boosting. Proper beard is another imperative part to a man’s appearance. Whatever your choice, make sure your facial hair is suitable for your and kept neat, clean, and well taken care of. The hair on your head and the hair on your face should also be a style that is easy to maintain for you day-to-day. Lastly, grooming includes skincare and nail care. You don’t have to do a 10 step skincare routine or get manicures every two weeks. All you need is a good face wash and moisturizer and neatly clipped finger nails and toe nails. These practices are more than just aesthetic; they convey a commitment to one’s overall appearance.

Cologne

As a personal stylist, I believe that scent possesses is a powerful tool in crafting a memorable presence, especially for a man. A well-chosen fragrance becomes an integral part of one's identity, leaving a lasting impression on those you encounter. A carefully curated cologne not only complements your individual style but also adds an extra layer of sophistication to your overall persona. The art of smelling good extends beyond the fragrance itself; it reflects meticulous grooming habits and attention to self-presentation. A gentleman that walks past smelling phenomenal stops people in their tracks. It takes your style game above and beyond. Try out a few colognes on your wrist and see how they wear on you throughout the day to make sure the scent suits you.

Confidence is Key

Ultimately, the true essence of elevating your style lies in how you carry yourself. Confidence radiates from within and can enhance any outfit you choose to wear. Stand tall and feel yourself. Your demeanor has the power to turn heads and leave a lasting impression. And when you know you look and smell good, that confidence won’t be far away.

Transitional Clothing for Florida Weather

As a personal stylist sweating profusely in Florida, one must learn during the fall to dance with the scorching heat of the day and chilly temperatures at night. Let’s delve into your outerwear options and summer pieces and how the combo of both can elevate your Florida fashion game.

As a personal stylist sweating profusely in Florida, one must learn during the fall to dance with the scorching heat of the day and chilly temperatures at night. Dressing comfortably for both can be challenging, especially when you want to look stylish at the same time. To that I say challenge accepted. Today’s blog is all about dressing for that pesky in between weather without sacrificing style and using these garments to accentuate and add to an outfit rather than just keep you warm once the sun sets. Let’s delve into your outerwear options and summer pieces and how the combo of both can elevate your Florida fashion game.

Cardigans

The cardigan is one of the easiest things to throw on once the sun sets or when entering a chill building. However, as personal stylist there is slight beef with the cardigan. Many clients like to use them as a crutch to hide parts of their bodies they don’t like. Now, there’s nothing wrong with the cardigan itself, but the way it is commonly used does nothing for the wearer of the garment.

Like any piece of clothing in your chosen outfit, the cardigan should add and not subtract from the look, and using it to hide from the world is most likely not doing your outfit any benefits. It’s a cute, yet cozy add on. Treat it as such by opting for brighter, fun colors outside of your staple black, white, grey and cream. A cropped cardigan or one with a tie also allows you help accentuate the waist making it smaller. If you’re going to choose a longer option, then make sure it’s not too bag and that what you’re wearing underneath isn’t too baggy either. We don’t want your feminine shape to be lost in too much fabric.

Button Downs

A button down worn open is a breezier option if it’s still too warm outside for a cardigan. The similar rules apply when it comes to a button down. This shirt style can be worn with a more boyfriend cut, but, again, you have to be careful about keeping everything underneath fitted and smooth to the body. Have fun with color but you also have the option to play with textures. A faux or real leather — no judgment here — can create an edgy look without the commitment of leather jacket. Textures like suede, corduroy, silk, and linen are also options with their own feel and vibe. Suede, corduroy and linen feel relaxed, earthy and laid back aesthetic, while linen feels more luxe and feminine.

You’re winning the game if you can find a button down with a similar fit to this one on the left. The subtle rouching and defined waist built into the structure of the shirt will still be visible even when unbuttoned allowing for a sultry, feminine look that is simultaneously still relaxed and effortless.

Maxi and Midi Dresses and Skirts

Moving on from outerwear for the time being, let’s discuss you longer skirts and summer dresses. Do not pack them just because the weather is beginning to cool down. You can easily still wear these bottoms with all your fall and winter appropriate outerwear. Play with mixing the feminine and the masculine buy pairing your skirts and dresses with blazers or leather jackets (for those much cooler December nights). You can tuck in your chunky sweaters into skirts as well if you only want one layer.

Jackets

Lastly, the most obvious layering piece is the jacket. A well-fitting denim jacket is a staple for almost anyone’s closet. A denim jacket does dress down whatever you’re wearing. If you want to keep your outfit dressed up or don’t want to make an elevated outfit casual, then opt for a clean cut blazer with a good waist even when open. A blazer with a naturally defined waist will go with more items in your closet because you won’t have to compete with a boxy structure making you look shapeless with blousier tops or dresses. If blazers are not your thing, then a denim or non denim jacket in a color that is not a blue denim with clean, classic lines like the middle example can subtitle nicely.

Summary
