How To Dress Your New Body

This past year and a half has been chaotic for us all. We have all changed in one way or another. Many people took this time to focus on their fitness journey, and many people have gained weight during the pandemic. Either way, we have changed not only mentally but also physically. If your body has changed due to the pandemic, don’t give up on how you look, feel, and present yourself. Take this time now to get to know your new body and as a time to experiment fashionably. And if you’re beginning your fitness journey now, who says you can’t still look good while you're on the journey?

The first step to feeling good about dressing is to identify what your style goal is. You have to be honest about your taste and what you want your wardrobe to look and feel like. So many people’s body types have held them back from truly discovering their style. Do you actually like wearing old oversized clothes, or do you just feel comfortable in them? This is your chance to discover your true style and fashion sense. What do you truly want to wear? Once you figure this out, it’s time to begin shopping!

When shopping for your new body, you should shop at high quality stores. This is because you want clothing pieces that are good quality that can be tailored over and over to fit your changing body type. Sure you can get cheap finds, but if you purchase quality clothing for your transition they will serve you so much better than those cheap pieces. The goal is to have less pieces of clothing overall and a small amount of key quality pieces that can be tailored. It’s all about quality over quantity!

Who goes shopping alone? Bring along someone you can trust to be honest with you about what looks good and what doesn’t. Someone who can help you find the right pants that look amazing on you, and be honest if that dress doesn’t fit you right. If you can’t think of anyone you know, hire a personal stylist! They have the expertise and knowledge to help you. Sometimes it’s hard to do this by yourself and see what you truly look like in the mirror. Having an honest friend or having a personal stylist helps you feel confident and comfortable making decisions in your new body.

Do not be afraid of shapewear! Shapewear changes the whole game, and there are so many different kinds that you can wear for different target areas. There are shape wear pieces that are targeted for just the tummy or thighs. There are some tight ones and some slimming and smoothing. It’s all about what you want and you have so many options to choose from. People use shapewear all the time, you’d be surprised!

Keep in mind that you and your body have been through so much. If your body has changed, don't give up. You still deserve to look and feel good. If you feel like you can’t do this by yourself, hire a personal stylist to take care of all your fashion needs and make you feel beautiful and confident.
